On Wednesday, openly gay Democratic Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank announced a proposal for the government to release the tight grip it has on the countries Marijuana users (YEAH!!!) The bill called HR 5843 or Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2008 will benefit Americans who carry less than 100 grams of Marijuana, therefore restricting federal laws to those moving heavy weight! How exciting is this…I mean for all those who love herbal refreshments.
Well according to my research and gaywired.com, Congressman Frank stated that, "The vast amount of human activity ought to be none of the government's business”. (True that). He also highlighted the fact that “laws aimed at marijuana users place undue burdens on law enforcement resources, punish ill Americans whose doctors have prescribed the substance and unfairly affect African-Americans”.
Congressman Frank feels that it is time that the government stops wasting their time on resources used to arrest responsible marijuana smokers, especially sense many states have approved small amounts for medicinal purposes.
This is yet another controversial issue, and I hope it all works out. I smell change...smells so nice!
