America's Next Top Stylist!

Ok so I don't know if I did this for kicks, you know just to say I did it or if I really want to be on reality TV, but I went to a casting for a pilot stylist competiton show.

It was an interesting experience. I was # 5 to arrive. There were a group of "stylish" ladies there. One friend who is also a stylist and the panel. The panel was all male and said that they liked what they saw in the waiting room. There were about 3 previous castings, in which I did not attend, and the panel did not find what they were looking for so they held 2 more castings.

I wasn't sure what to expect. We all see on reality TV the footage of all of the hopefuls trying to sell themselves to the panel. I just did not want to be made a fool of! Lol

You were asked to bring your resume and portfolio along to the casting. Of course there were a few who ignored that part. I handed my port and resume over and was then told to wait.

People are called in, in the order in which they arrived. But then I noticed #6 and #7 are called but not me! My friend speaks up for me, I didn't want to be rude, the order didn't really matter to me, but ok. They call me next.

They ask, "Did you bring a portfolio or resume?" Umm, yes I handed it to you sir! What did they do? Throw my port to the side? Was this a good or bad thing? Do I really care?

I was a little shaky at first, as I always am during public speaking. But then I knocked the questions out. When asked why I want to be a stylist, I could only say what I truly feel. "I am a stylist because this is what I am destined to be! I want to use clothing and accessories to create art. Art that makes you say "Who would wear all of that together?" Art that makes you say, "this is truly a story..I am inspired"

One of the stylists on the panel knew of the agency I worked with before. I did notice that the panel hardly made too much eye contact wtih me. They were all up in my port and my resume. Again, good or bad thing? But do I really care?

I actually had questions of my own. What's the prize?! But there was no segment for my questions.

So I guess we shall see what happens. I really don't need a competition to deem me as a stylist.
I already am!!! And that's not being cocky, its being confident. If I don't believe it, how will the rest of the world?!

Peace,

Sequin "I AM A STYLIST" Dot
