So its definitely Tuesday and I'm still totally not recovered from this insane weekend! How about I went to work on Saturday and didn't get back home until Monday night! Saturday night I took the Dots to our first all white party...literally, we were the only splash of color besides the bright fall hues, and it was amazing! If anyone felt uncomfortable they totally didn't show it, we rocked out to everything from Rhi Rhi, to Justin, to Will (From the Black Eye Peas)! Considering all the alcohol that I consumed that evening, the music definitely helped me sweat it out. Shout outs to the DJ!!!It was quit the invigorating and liberating social if I may say so myself! I was so proud of my Dots's and the way they were able to adjust to the new crowd..you go girls...welcome to America! And to top of the night I polished it off with another sleep over at my second home, Classic's crib....those are always fun. hehehe....
The agenda ahead, a bumpy ride, so buckle your seat belts! As I told you in my last blog, I officially got accepted into my international program, well now I officially have to start paying!! I'm super excited and hella broke! On top of that I have to run around and get all this paper work done; like my student visa and hella other technical BS..anyways...The new year will be here before I know it and soon I will become another self hating American, wishing I could stay in Europe, while secretly missing deodorant and American food in general, but we'll have time for that later....
So, as far as my internship things are running quit smooth. I really am looking forward to some red carpet events this weekend and hopefully watching and edit and helping to make a final package for TV. That would be so cool to see my final product aired on television.
What else is going on? Oh yeah I'm reading this incredible book American Apartheid, by Douglas Massey. It is a must have for all Americans, Black Americans in particular. It outlines the infrastructure of institutionalized segregation in the United States urban communities, and the conscious pursuit of America's white elite to keep it that way. Did you know that the US created laws that condoned our separatist nation? Massey focuses on the emergence of the "black ghetto" and the way it was and still is promoted by American society. Although I am only on the first chapter, the facts that I have read thus far, are not only extremely disturbing, but have cosigned many of my preconceived thoughts on the birth of the systematic "black ghetto". The black community has suffered from institutionalized racism for numerous generations, the Black American has been put down for so long, that they have inadvertently began to keep themselves down. I have concluded that black people need to know more about themselves, collectively, learn to appreciate and accept that they are black, this is inclusive of all decedents and ethnicity's with origins in Africa. Lets face it, Puerto Ricans, Brazilians, Dominicans, and basically all the islands and The US alike were originally inhabitants of black slaves, each country was just colonized by different combinations of European colonialists...right? Finally once those aspects are understood then and only then can there be a united front to face the opposers. Lets face it, there's no secret to who/what controls our society, therefore the consensus of us holds more wait then any opinion that we my have of them...think about it. We all want to be the hierarchy of the social and economic ladder, that is the American Dream. So what we have to empower our mind, body, and soul in order to achieve whats rightfully ours, why stop now, haven't we been doing it all of our life?
Read, Read, Read knowledge is power and literacy is the foundation of our future. Any book ideas? Please email them...ASAP, I am going to need to have something for Italy!!!!!
XOXOXOXO,
