Nas and Nigger

OK so I'm sure (well I hope that) all you young black hopefuls have heard of Nas's controversial title for his newest album. Rumors are indicating that we have waited a year or so only to have our thirst quenched with "Nigger", the name of the legend, Nasir Jone's album? According to my sources Nas's decision stems from a yearning to disassociate himself and the black community from the the negative connotations of the word, however coming from a man of his caliber, one must ponder whether this was a positive career move and how will naming his album "Nigger" look to the black community, and others as well. It would be interesting to hear how Americans are taking this blacks and whites alike. Is is taking out the negative connotation, or promoting what resent political figures have tried to denounce?

I mean Nas is all for unity and the uplifting the black man, so why in the hell would he promote such a foul and ludicrous concept? He went from "One Mic" in Africa to "Nigger" in America. I mean this is all very condescending and unbecoming at the same time. All I can say is that I hope these are just rumors and he has not lost his mind. I hope the album is a great comeback, however I'm not sure if I will be purchasing this one. I am praying that Nas rethinks this career move, and the statement that he is making to and for black men of America; before he actually goes through with allowing this title to hit the shelves. I must say as a music connoisseur I am a bit appalled by this tatic and hope that many of you fellow Nas listeners feel me! Email mail me at glamdot@gmail.com let me know what you think!!
