I miss you too..

I know its been way to long! Between working, school, papers, readings, site visits, interning, and socializing I completely abdicated myself of therapy. There has been so much going on where do I ignite? So now three weeks into my internship, I love it! It's an aspiring journalist historical first birthday. I finally succeeded in landing an internship in which I am enabled to learn and actually enjoy doing so. Did I forget to mention that I went to my first red carpet event (with this particular organization) last week. That experience was utterly exhilarating and completely repulsive all at once! It was extreme hot in the 8 by 10 room and cameras attacked my head as if I were scarecrow herself, however I loved it! The interviewing process, the fast passed atmosphere, the unspoken unison of pop culture fanatics illuminating all night, only solidified my uneasy feelings about my career. TV is awesome..and producing is definitely something that I will look in to.

School and work are the same at this point: obligations that need to be done in a dedicated fashion in order to adhere to the bigger picture. Besides I'm only taking electives in order to focus on my internship and Italy. I did a great job this semester in choosing course that are rather amiable. On the contrary, my Black Pop Culture, is now in week five and we are still discussing rap music and its role in the contemporary American society. Dude is that really all black pop culture is..rap music? We are damn near in October and we have yet to address blacks in film, radio, television, corporate world, and various other fields that make mockery of the classification minority. That just pisses me off, it goes with out saying; the influence of hip-hop is every hustlers dream, but their influence in careers unfamiliar to the black face is not something they would even know to aspire to. If black pop culture is defined by the black community and it is exclusive to those who are considered pillars and or popular in the black community, why is that as intellectuals and college students we can only think of hip-hop as the most celebrated component in black pop culture? Maybe its not what's popular to the minority, but what the majority have considered popular in our own back yards? Although hip-hop is a major part of black culture devoting an entire semester to its influence, in a course coined Black Pop Culture is simply noninclusive of the other more human like characteristics and achievements that are very popular in the black community. Don't you agree?

Moving along, The slumber party and stuff swap with the Dots last week was a hit! I scored so many hot items..i.e red leather snake skin pumps! Loves you guys! P.S I really want to work on starting this book club! we are all going to be parents one day or another and I want to use the power of literature to enlighten us, so that our children will be prepared for the world ahead. On my sabbatical from blogging I have been reading researching and discovering, which I everyone should do. It keeps my mind flowing and I think i am subconsciously preparing my self for Italy! Speaking of Italia, I leave by my B-day '08! So exciting, new year, in a new country. I have so much going on right now I have no time to stress! I have to run (work in the morning), pinky promise not to omit you out of my unorthodox weekly rituals again!

Ciao as the say in Italia~
