As I continue to try to bring the world lovely pieces of art styled by yours truly, the struggle continues. So as I told you before, I was working on a project with a photographer who wanted me style a shoot for him for 30 bucks...no silly not an hour....for the day. The pay wasn't the total problem. It was more that this dude was trying to get me and thought I was going to fall for it. ( you can check it out in the archives)
So being the professional that I am, I busted my brain and went through my contacts trying to work on this. I wanted to make sure that everything on my part was in place for the casting that was to be held on Tuesday. I came up with not one, but 4 story options. Really, on a project like this one, I should have just been collaborating with the photographer on what wardrobe would bring HIS idea to life...oh yeah, I forgot, I'm the stylist and I have to figure out the story and location and who knows what else.
I sent a very professional email on Sunday around noon to this photographer. I stated that my contacts were not able to lend lingerie, especially if its not for a celeb or something. And in that case, they would most likely give them the lingerie to keep. I also stated that I had different stories in mind, but I need to know what his ideas are, how many models he would like to shoot, and most importantly, what is the name of the mag so that I can do some research.
This very foolish man emailed me back, not a few hours later, how about 10 hours later! He tried to go off on me about what a stylist's job is and how over seas responsibility letters work. Um HELLO!!!!! I am a STYLIST!!!! For an up and coming one I know a whole lot. I didn't try to tell him how to shoot, don't insult me and try to tell me how to do my job. He continues on about being determined and willing to do what it takes to bring this to life. I knew I was through when he said the best stylists he has worked with used their own clothes. He says," I just want to shoot this, not style it." Um, I am sure that they did not provide their own panties and bras for a photo shoot. That is just disgusting. No, he wants ME to do everything so that HE can take the credit!
YES I AM....
-willing to do whatever it takes to bring art to life in the form of photographs
-very determined
-very creative
-very professional
-THE BEST DAMN STYLIST IN THE LAND!!!! ( that means I believe in myself)
NO I AM....
-not a dumb one that will let you walk all over me
-not doing YOUR job
-not bringing MY own lingerie to the shoot....ewww!
With that said....the "Fall Lingerie" shoot is done....
Hope he finds a stylist who has some nice panties to lend him from her pantie stash...ewww !again!
