Black Girls ROCK!!!!

I am such a bad journalist..in the most literal sense. I mean this is technically my online journal and I neglect to jot down my most exciting moments!! well anyways this weekend I got to attend a special event, called the Black Girls Rocks Awards. Its a conglomerate of outstanding Black females which are both well established and well known in their individual mediums, that set out to applaud one another for their accomplishments. I got to be in the presence of legends such as, Beverly Bond, Susan L. Taylor, Sylvia Rhone, Missy Elliot, Gabrielle Union, Regina King, Kerry Washington, I mean the list is endless. It was an extraordinary event as well as an inspirational experience. I aspire to be like those woman and hope to be honored in the years to come!! You don't see that on the 10, 11, or 6 o'clock news, wait the show wasn't even aired on television!! That sucks because, I wish every Black Girl that Rocks could have seen it. Hopefully next year. P.S ladies if your looking for a publicist and or promoter count me in, anything to help uplift and enlighten my fellow sisters!

So this week is hella serious for me I have like a shit load of papers due this month as well as a host of readings. I have come to fall in love with the works of William Shakespeare, and hope that my writings will last longer than my lineage. I have been reading some new plays and re-re-reading some old ones and I'm totally addicted, the English language is not so bad after all...but on top of all that I am attempting to complete to ongoing paper work for my big trip next Jan. It's so hard to think about January when in October its like 86 degrees! That's insane, global warming is a BIOTCH! On the contrary I do enjoy mixing my fall and summer looks, I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe, and that's always a plus.

OK enough about me, has anyone seen Amy Winehouse's new vid? I mean I love her, and Back to Black is damn near encoded in my brain, however the video for "Tears Dry on There Own" is an injustice to the song! She looks super drugged out and her hair is not even combed, someone please hire her better staff. They can't possible care about her if they left her make a video looking like that. On top of her drug induced facial expressions, poor Amy is extremely skinny. I'm on team Winehouse, but honey please get help. I hope her music is still as good when she kicks the habit.

Things to be up in the know about: American Gangster, heard its going to be a good one, Mark Ronson's album, Mary J. and MiMi s well. P.S Where is it at for New Years this year? I'm thinking MIA, LA, or Vegas, don't want to stay here because I'm so over boring ass New York! Might as well start 2008 of right, travel, travel, travel.
